Moving from Key Stage 1 to Key Stage 2 can create anxieties for some children and we understand that this can be a difficult adjustment. Therefore, we do all we can to ensure transition is smooth and effective.
We want all our new children to feel happy, safe and secure. The quicker they settle in, the more confident they become helping them to develop independence, and enjoy their learning.
Liaison with our Foundation Unit and Key Stage 1 is a crucial factor which enables us to get to know our children before they move in to Key Stage 2. We provide opportunities during the school week for Foundation Unit and Key Stage 1 children to attend assemblies and share playtimes.
The children‘s academic ability is also shared between teaching staff so appropriate work can be planned and delivered to match the needs of all.
